Famous Racehorses - Barbaro

Barbaro (April 29, 2003 - January 29, 2007) was an American thoroughbred that decisively won the 2006 Kentucky Derby but fractured three bones in and around the ankle of his right hind leg shortly after the start of the 2006 Preakness Stakes.

Barbaro underwent several surgeries but the injury ended his racing career and eventually leading to his being euthanized on January 29, 2007.
