Grain futures drop Thursday
Corn was off 7 1/4 to off 7 1/2, soybeans were off 23 1/2 to off 28 1/2, wheat was off 8 1/4 to off 8 3/4 and oats were off 2 1/4.
Corn futures dropped as on the dollar's strength and with beneficial, dry weather expected in the Midwest. Wheat prices slipped, while Egypt purchased 60,000 metric tons from Russia and a like amount from France. Soybean futures fell with weather expected to be mixed for 6-10 days in the Delta region.
The prices:
Corn: Dec 3.76 1/2, off 7 1/2; Mar 3.90 1/4, off 7 1/4; May 4.00, off 7 1/4; Jul 4.08 1/2, off 7 1/4.
Soybeans: Nov 9.67, off 28 1/2; Jan 9.72, off 27; Mar 9.76 3/4, off 25 3/4; May 9.76, off 23 1/2.
Wheat: Dec 5.12 1/4, off 8 3/4; Mar 5.32 1/4, off 8 1/2; May 5.45 1/4, off 8 1/2; Jul 5.56 1/4, off 8 1/4.
Oats: Dec 2.55 3/4, off 2 1/4; Mar 2.69 1/4, off 2 1/4; May 2.77 1/4, off 2 1/4; Jul 2.85 1/4, off 2 1/4.
