AT&T to rival: There's a lawsuit for that
Verizon ads that claim "There's a Map for That," are the focus of a lawsuit filed in a federal court in Atlanta, The Dallas Morning News reported Wednesday.
AT&T is not disputing Verizon's 3G coverage is more extensive than theirs, but the ads show maps with blank spaces where AT&T has 2G coverage. The blank spaces, however, imply that AT&T does not have any coverage in those areas at all, the lawsuit says.
"White space always represents no coverage," AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel said.
Verizon Wireless spokeswoman Audrey Lundy, "we stand by the map," shown in the ads.
"If they have a better map, we'd like to see it," she said.
The ads are also a take-off of iPhone advertisements that use the catch phrase, "There's an App for that," referring to applications available for the smart phone.
AT&T has an exclusive deal with Apple, makers of the iPhone, tying the phone to AT&T's services.
