H. Rider Haggard

H. Rider Haggard

Sir Henry Rider Haggard wrote many novels, the most famous of which featured the now-famous Allan Quatermain. Haggard's novels were supplemented by his extensive travels to various English colonies, many of which seemed exotic to the English readers of the time. Although he studied law and was called to the bar, he spent the better part of his time writing novels. Haggard was far more famous in his own lifetime than he is now, but his characters have influenced many great early-twentieth-century thinkers, including and especially Jung and Freud.
