(Jan. 3, 106 BC - Dec. 7, 43 BC)
Marcus Tullius Cicero is considered the greatest Latin orator and
prose writer, and his many writings on politics attest to this. He
had a fascination with everything Greek, especially philosophers such
as Plato. He is probably best known for his orations speaking against
Catiline, who was subsequently banished on allegations of attempting
to overthrow the Roman government. Cicero himself was killed in 43
BC, fleeing from political enemies.
