Aesop was believed to be a slave to a Greek man named Iadmon, although
his birthplace is still debated by scholars. It is believed he was
eventually freed, after which he traveled to Athens and began telling
his fables - some believe, however, that his fables were actually
hidden messages decrying the state of society. Herodotous claims that
Aesop was killed violently while in Delphi, although the reason is
still unknown.
