Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse, known to friends as "Plum," is most
famous for writing the "Jeeves & Wooster" novels and short stories.
These stories, like most of his others, follow a series of complex
plots centered around the "idle rich" of 1930s London society. He is
considered one of the best comic writers of all time, and has been
called the father of modern British humor. However, many people
criticized Wodehouse for his unflattering view of the upper class,
prompting him to move to the United States permanently.
