Why Doesn't God Help Me With My Financial Troubles?

By Billy Graham, Tribune Media Services
Q: I don't mean to shock you, but I'm disappointed with God. I have a lot of financial problems, and if He loved me He'd be doing something about them. But nothing changes, so why should I think He cares? -- C.D.

A: Let me ask you a question: What have you done to find God's answers to your problems? Have you honestly sought His wisdom to deal with them?

I don't know how you might answer my question, but I do know that people sometimes claim to be disappointed with God -- but they make no effort to seek Him or find His answer to their problems. Instead of seeking His will, they expect Him to come to their aid without any effort on their part. They ignore Jesus' words: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find" (Matthew 7:7). Don't let this be true of you.

The most important thing I can tell you is that God does care about your problems -- and the reason is because He loves you. How do I know this? I know it because His only Son was willing to give His life for you. If you have never trusted Christ for your salvation, don't sit back and wait for a better time to accept Him; it may never come.

Instead ask Him to come into your life today.

Then ask God to give you the wisdom to deal with your problems. Don't expect Him to make them suddenly vanish, but ask Him to show you practical ways to deal with them. Perhaps He wants to lead you to someone who can advise you. Perhaps He wants you to seek another job. God knows what steps you need to take. Seek His will -- and do it.

Financial Problems

When we became born again some of us don't really understand our new standing in Christ or chose to ignore the truth. The bible says that ye shall reap whatever you sow.

Why would you expect God to just put our mess under the carpet, well the first thing you should start doing is to ask God what to do first, especially when the money comes and you just decide to spend it on things you can neither afford or need, and God has warned us in proverbs 3:19-23 tell it all.

Seek the will of God first and all other things will begin to fall into place, but don't expect that you can live irresponsible and expect God to take the blame or to keep wiping off your debts, that is not God's way. And until you start asking for things within God's will for you, you will always have problems.

Another issue is, are you spending your money on things that may not be God's will, or may be foolish?
For instance, trying to purchase and maintain a 1 million dollar house when you make minimum wage, or trying to purchase and maintain a Hum-Vee, when not making the money it takes to do so.
Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. James 4:1-3
Or, 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will[2]ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. John 15:6-7
Are you abiding in His truth? If not, He is not obligated to give what you ask for.
But, if you do, this is for you to receive by faith, 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
Romans 8:13-17
That means, what ever Christ has available to Him, we have available to us, which is,
19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Phil 4:19

Financial Problems.

This is one of the most common problems today, finances. Money is tight, and the economy isn't helping.
But, lets look at the principles.
First, I would ask if you tithe. If you don't look at Malachi chapter 3. Read the whole thing and you will find one possible answer. You have not trusted God with His portion that He asks for. My wife and I could look back many times and see more going out then what was coming in, because we tithed, and God made sure we had enough.
Secondly, 2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. 3 For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 3 John 1:2-4 The key here is, as your soul prospers. Are you living the life that Jesus said you must live? When I was living like I didn't need God, and making good money, I was in an accident, and am totally disabled now, and now having to trust God, my wife and I are making it on 1/3 of what we were making before.
I hope this helps
God Bless

My financial Troubles

I have found through my financial troubles. Which continue today, that He wants me to learn to be a good steward of His money. The key is they are MY financial troubles, I caused them. I borrowed money. I spent what we had in the wrong way. I chose this over doing it His way. The troubles are just natural consequences of my wrong actions.
Yet, through it all, He is faithful to supply my needs. Not my wants, but my needs. As I am unemployed (again, was last yr too for a period) I have to depend on food banks to assist my family with food. Is the food I get food I want? NOOO, I don't even know how to cook some of it. The food however is just that food. It meets the hunger needs of my family. So, I learn how to prepare it, eat it (choke it down sometimes to be honest) and thank God for His provision. When my heart is right with this attitude, I find that people will even do things like bake us brownies.

So are your financial troubles self inflicted? Are they a way to teach you to depend on Him? Or maybe they are a way that He can let others minister to you.

Great Answer Billy Graham.
