Why Don't My Friends Understand My Need to Be Faithful?
By Billy Graham, Tribune Media Services
Q: My wife is totally disabled because of a massive stroke, and
probably won't ever get better. Now some of my friends are telling me
I'm crazy not to find a mistress. How can I explain to them that God
wants me to be faithful to her as long as she lives, without sounding
like I'm strange? -- J.H.
A: No matter what they think of you, you are doing the right thing in God's eyes, and I commend you for it. When you were married, you and your wife made a vow before God to be faithful to each other "in sickness and in health ... as long as we both shall live" (or words to that effect). God takes that vow very seriously, and so should you.
After all, what if your situation were reversed -- that is, what if you were the one who had suffered a health crisis and become disabled, and she was the healthy one? How would you feel if you learned somehow that she had decided to break her marriage vows by becoming involved with another man? I suspect it would be very painful for you -- and it should be. Jesus said that once a man and a woman take their marriage vows, "they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate" (Matthew 19:6).
Don't let your friends sway you, and don't be guided by their limited views. Be guided instead by God and His will -- for His will is perfect, and it is always best for us. Perhaps your example will cause your friends to examine their own lives more closely, and help them face their own need of Christ.
Your path isn't easy -- but "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

The Need To Be Faithful Even In Ill Health
The bible said that His Grace is sufficient for us and the Psalmist said in chapter 18 that when we pass thru the fire it shall not consume us, and when in the water it shall now swallow us; these words of Promise from God is so powerful and encouraging that it gives us strength for any uncomfortable circumstance.
My dear brother should not be deceived by his friends who knows no better and have no conscience, cos it could be them in that condition and what next. God tells us not to make a vow, but when we do we should ensure to keep it so we can be rewarded the full benefits of that virtue. The vows of marriage is everlasting and in and out of seasons; remember.
Now the reason for the warning in the new testament, that we believers should not be equally yoked with unbelievers becomes very clear cos my brother's friends are ill advising him on such a delicate issue pertaining to ones happiness.
I will end by saying to my brother, Be Encouraged, God rewards those who truly fear Him and keep His laws. Let the joy of the Lord be your strength.

Dear J.H. congratulations for be a faithful man. God will reward you for that. When you love your wife or husband, you don't want to hurt that person even with the though of been unfaithful, it doesn't matter if it is healthy or disabled.
Ten years ago my husband suffered cancer for a whole year and then he went Home with the LORD. It never cross my mind to do or think to be unfaithful. I dedicated all my time to give him care and a lot of love. We promised before GOD "in sickness and in health".
If your friends have encouranged you to do something like that is because they are not Godly friends. The LORD said "If you love me, follow my commemments" and we are called to obey GOD before men.
I pray the LORD keep you strongh and give you his grace and love while you take care for her.
GOD Bless you!!!
