Do People Not Need Insurance Because God Will Take Care of Them?

By Billy Graham, Tribune Media Services
Q: I sell life insurance for a living, and the other day a man told me he didn't need any kind of insurance because the Bible says God will take care of him and his family. Is he right? This was something new to me. -- Z.K.

A: I'm sure this person was sincere -- and he was right, up to a point: God has promised to take care of His children when hard times come. The psalmist wrote, "I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread" (Psalm 37:25).

But what he has overlooked is that one of the ways God may provide for a needy family is through insurance. Money doesn't just come out of thin air to provide for a widow or her family; someone has to provide it. And the first place that money should come from, the Bible says, is our own savings. Sometimes this isn't possible, of course -- but the Bible does say that "A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children" (Proverbs 13:22). Insurance can be one way of meeting that goal.

At the same time, the Bible does command us to help those who are in genuine need. An unexpected disability ... a sudden death ... the loss of a job ... many things can cause serious financial distress. The Bible warns, "If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever" (1 Timothy 5:8).

At the same time, a person may have all the insurance in the world -- and yet not be ready to die. We need Christ, for only He has broken the chains of death and opened the door to heaven. Put your faith in Him today.

divorce

Luke 16:18 tells us: "Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery:and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery." I feel that is pretty explanatory. Matthew 5:31 also explains that whosoever puts away his wife, give her a writing of divorcement: BUT whosoever shall put away his wife for the cause of fornication (or adultery) causes her to commit adultery and whosoever marries her that is divorced commits adultery. So absolutely you cannot get re-married after you are divorced. As in your vows "What God has joined together, let no man put asunder"....

Do We Insurance When God Promised To Take Care of Us?

Well I must say that whoever thought this up has yet a lot to learn about the Word of God. First, yes God promised to take care of us but you must play your part by believing and working. The Bible said that God will bless the work of our hands and in so doing has provided, then the next step is for you to invest wisely and this could be in for of insurance of stocks whichever you desire.

Ecl 6: tells us that the greatest gift God can give you is, being healthy enough to make money and enjoy it in your life time, then Jesus told a parable where more was given to the servant who invested his money wisely, so this examples shows us that God provide by making opportunities available to us to enble us make money and then we need to invest wisely, for God says that a good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children, not that God will leave it, but we.

Hardwork has always been God's way of doing things and the whole of Proverbs attests to this, so be wise and don't take everything literally God speaks in prabables afterall.
