What You Need to Know About Police Impound Cars?

Jacobi Lea
One of the best ways to buy a great car at a really cheap rate is by going ahead for police impound cars. Cars that are used for crime and then abandoned or cars that are tagged with motor vehicle violations usually end up for police impound car auctions.

Since no one claims these cars, they are claimed by the police and then set up for auctions where the highest bidder gets to own the car. If you are interested in buying one such car, you can get a lot of information on the Internet and in the local newspapers.

Even the television advertises the selling of these cars. You will be surprised to know that you can get some really good cars at such police impound auctions at cheap rates. However, there are certain things that you need to know before bidding for these impound cars.

* First of all, you need to have sufficient money to buy the automobile at the auction. So make sure that you are approved for a loan before you go for an auction. Of course, you get a chance to look around for different cars before you finalize on one.

* You also need to get a notarized guarantee from a bank, which states that you are approved for the loan, before buying a police impound car.

* Once you select the car and pay for it, according to the police rules, you need to get the car registered within a specific amount of time. Usually there are officials on the auction site that take care of the registration issues. In case there are no personnel, make sure you consult a licensing agency quickly to register the car so that you do not lose it.

* Another thing that you need to know is that you will not be allowed to test drive a police impound car before buying it. However, most of these cars are in a good condition; therefore, it should not be a big enough reason for worry.

* Go ahead for a police impound car auction as soon as you hear about it, since car dealers are really quick to buy these cars and then sell it back to customers at a higher price. The best cars are the ones that are sold early; so the early you go to the auction, the better are the chances to buy a good car.
