When you tow, you should make sure to use safety chains. This way, your trailer and vehicle will stay connected if the hitch happens to fail. You will want to cross your chain underneath the tongue of the trailer, so if the hitch does fail, the tongue won't fall to the ground, and also leave enough slack in it so you can still make a complete turn.
