Car Detailing Tips for an Optimum Performance

Owning a car is probably a person’s second biggest lifetime investment. Undeniably one would want to keep their ride in as pristine condition possible. Besides maintaining the heart of ones auto which is the engine, its paintwork is just as vital. Paintwork condition reflects on the general wellbeing of the car and most importantly how well the owner treats it. It matters when it comes to selling, as flawless paintwork sends out impression that the vehicle was in good hands and thus fetches premium price. Read on as the below car detailing tips could restore your precious auto to tiptop condition at minimum price.

Firstly, pour a generous amount of car wash liquid or alternatively dishwashing detergent into a pail of water. Mind you, dishwashing detergents are powerful oil, grime and dirt remover plus they are gentle on paint as they are on hands. Give your car a throughout wash over, into tight spots such as your door handle and even in between your alloy wheel spokes. Use only micro fiber clothes to avoid fine scratches cause by using rag.

Next is the claying process. Spray an area with car wash mixture. Then, you will have to knee a small piece of clay that you can hold comfortably with your fingers and rub it over the sprayed area. For the top area of the car, use a front and back motion and for the side area of the car, use an up down motion. Rub over the same area until you feel it going over the paint smoothly. Rinse car thoroughly with water to wash off clay before proceeding to dry it.

Following step would be to apply polish to further reduce hairline cracks. Polish a small area in circular motion on top area of the car, front back motion on side area of the car, finish with up down motion. This polishing method is recommended by most polish manufacturer. After it has dried, use another clean 100% cotton towel and buff off dried polish. Repeat all the steps for a maximum of 3 times for optimum result.

The whole car detailing process may take up to 5 hours but the end result will leave you grinning and your ride, gleaming.

Remember not to use the detergent between waxings as it will remove the wax. The clay is bought at auto stores. It is used to remove build up residue and pollutants on the car's finish. It can restore the paint's finish to feel like a baby's bottom. I use Maguire's Detailer spray instead of the soap solution. Happy polishing!
