Ready to Buy That First Car? Consider More Than Good Looks!
Dianna Yvonne Smith
Buying a first car will depend upon when you are purchasing your first
car. If you are a teenager who is looking to buy a first car, you will
undoubtedly be looking for something typically different than what
your parents think you should be driving. Teenagers are interested in
the sporty aspect of cars rather than the sensible side.
Insurance is one thing that will be a big consideration. The rates for younger male drivers are already high, but the type of car you purchase can add to the insurance rates. Rather than purchasing something you can take four-wheelin', a more sensible ride will cost less in the long run. The insurance companies already know that young males are more likely to be involved in an automobile collision. This is why it costs more for their insurance.
A first car should be something that is going to be reliable with payments you can afford. This does not mean it has to be a staid, ugly car that will cause you to be made fun of by all your friends. There are cars that can look sporty without having the extra expense associated with a sports car. Yes, all the young kids may be driving a Mustang that will eat the road, but the chances are they are not paying their own insurance nor did they purchase it themselves. If you are going to be responsible for your bills you will need something a bit more sedate than a Mustang.
A first car should be something dependable and good looking. Figuring out what the most important features when it comes to buying a car is going to be one of the ways you can choose the car that will fit your needs. Make a list and include some of the following in the order they matter to the car you will purchase.
* Performance of the Vehicle * Load Capacity * Passenger Capacity * Appearance * Insurance Costs * Gas Mileage * Safety * Price * Maintenance Costs * Repair Costs
These are only a few of the considerations you should think about before buying your first car. There are so many models from which to choose, you may think you will never find the perfect first car. One of the major headaches when it comes to cars is the repairs. But by buying a new car you will still be covered for awhile by the vehicle warranty. This is another aspect you will want to consider. Which models and dealers have the best vehicle warranties?
Maintenance is usually handled for awhile by the dealer as well. Regularly scheduled maintenance is very important to keep your car in top running condition. A fuel efficient car makes much more sense right now due to rising costs of gasoline. Another thing to consider when making a vehicle purchase is how long you are planning on keeping the car. If you are only going to keep it for awhile and then trade it back in for something else, you will want to consider the re-sell value. There is a lot more to choosing your first car than just picking one. Consider all the pros and cons when looking to buy a first car so that you will make the right choice.
