Just as in court cases, how can you believe someone who is paid to say what he says? Do you believe that Democratic leaders who saw the same reports that the President and his advisers did not come to the same conclusion? Why don't you ask Hillary, Obama, Kerry et al why they did not vigorously deny the conclusions of the Bush administration? Could it be that it was the right conclusion given the data they was presented at the time?

Bush, indeed doesn't think through his foreign policy ideas; they are useful (from his gut)for him and his needs. The country be damned.
Given the whole history of McClellen and Bush, I think it understandable that McClellen needed (too) much time to realize he like the media and much of the country to know about Bush's
"truthiness." Every narcissist I have ever known has the same modus operandi.
